Emma Thompson to Continue Writing Further Tales
Beatrix Potter’s publisher Frederick Warne, an imprint of Penguin Children’s, has confirmed that they will be publishing two more brand new Peter Rabbit stories by Emma Thompson. The two new titles follow the publication of The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit – the 24th tale in the existing collection of Peter Rabbit stories.
The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit represents the first time that Frederick Warne has published an additional title to the series which Beatrix Potter wrote between 1902 and 1930.
The second book by Emma Thompson will publish Christmas 2013 and will feature Peter’s comical little cousin Benjamin Bunny, a new character called William and will be set in the Lake District. The third book will publish 2014.
Emma said, "I'm very proud that Mr Rabbit has requested a further outing. I shall be more than happy to include his cousin Benjamin whom I've always found peculiarly attractive."
Francesca Dow, MD of Penguin Children’s said, “The recent launch of the 24th tale The Further Tale of Peter Rabbit has been amazingly well-received all over the world and I can't tell you how excited we are that Emma is writing two more tales. Emma’s writing is completely fresh and original and yet she also captures perfectly the spirit of Potter’s own unique style. Children have grown up enjoying the original tales of Peter Rabbit and now they can look forward to these new additions to their collection. What with Peter celebrating his 110th birthday this year, the forthcoming launch of the new Peter Rabbit animation series and now two new tales from Emma it’s certainly an exciting time for everybody’s favourite rabbit.”
