The Beatrix Potter Society invites you to join us for
Beatrix Potter & Laura Ingalls Wilder: A Day Celebrating Their Writing, Art, Farms & Gardens
Two guest speakers from The Beatrix Potter Society will present exciting new research on the surprisingly parallel lives of Beatrix Potter and Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Marta McDowell is author of Beatrix Potter’s Gardening Life (2013) and The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder: The Frontier Landscapes that Inspired the Little House Books (2017). She teaches at the New York Botanical Garden in between her research and travels. Marta enjoys sharing her love of horticulture and garden history through the written and spoken word.
Connie Ryle Neumann spent 32 years as a teacher and children’s librarian, and is a charter board member of the Laura Ingalls Wilder Legacy & Research Association, a group dedicated to the study of Laura’s life and writings. She has visited all Ingalls-Wilder family home sites and has a deep interest in pioneer history.
Beatrix Potter Society publications and notecards will be for sale, along with a ‘Bring and Buy’ table of items donated by Society Members from their Potter collections.
For those planning to stay in San Diego for the weekend, please join us for extended activities on Friday, March 23 and/or Sunday, March 25, including a Friday visit to Coronado Island, home to the historic Hotel del Coronado, and a brunch on Sunday morning followed by good-byes.
